Todays post comes to you from the back hill of our "RamShackle" house. Take a look at this crime scene.

[The glass enclosure is a low tech experiment to see if we can grow lettuce and salad greens throughout the eminently approaching New England winter. The greens under the glass are supposedly frost hardy, not sure if they're expecting to be shivering at -20F tho]

Anyhow, the chief suspect is a mature? white oak tree. Its about 150 feet tall, age approx 127yrs*. Caution is advised when approaching the tree, at least for the next month until it's done pissing out all its acorns.

* This grumpy tree's age was determined by taking its circumference (80"), divide by pi to get the diameter (25.5"). Then multiply the diameter by a statistical factor (for white oak this is 5.0), which gives an age of about 127yrs.
